DIS COLLECTIVE
Dis is a disability-led art and architecture research collective which advocates for the value of disabled and crip experience within space and culture, as well as critical perspectives on transnational and transcultural experiences of debility. Our work centres around narratives, alternative pedagogies, and forms of practice that work against racial, capitalist, ableist, and eugenic action enacted through space, exploring alternative ways of living, surviving and thriving.
Dis was founded by architectural researcher Jordan Whitewood-Neal & artist and writer James Zatka-Haas. We have led a variety of workshops, public programme events, research projects and lead disability-centred teaching within architecture schools in the UK. We have collaborated with the London Festival of Architecture, The DisOrdinary Architecture Project, Architectural Association, Museum fur Gestaltung Zurich, Design Museum, Greater London Authority and currently teach a Design Think Tank module at the London School of Architecture.
